Sports Mole

Austin vs. LA Galaxy (Saturday, 6.45pm)

A disastrously out-of-form Los Angeles Galaxy will travel to take on Austin FC at the Q2 Stadium for a match that could see them hit the bottom of the MLS table.

Los Verdes will be looking to bounce back from defeat last time out, while Los Angelinos will be desperate for their first win of the league campaign.

We say: Austin FC 2-0 Los Angeles Galaxy

Although Austin were thrashed last time out, they were up against the top-of-the-division Whitecaps, while they face bottom-of-the-West Galaxy this weekend.

The hosts will be keen to get back to winning ways and their defensive solidity could make it difficult for the struggling Los Angelinos to find their footing.

> Major League Soccer preview: Austin vs LA Galaxy

Columbus Crew vs. Inter Miami (Saturday, 9.30pm)

Huntington Bank Field is set to host a six-pointer at the top of MLS' Eastern Conference when Columbus Crew welcome Inter Miami on Saturday.

The Black and Gold will be looking to make it four wins on the bounce this weekend, while the Herons are hoping to extend their unbeaten league run to eight games.

We say: Columbus Crew 2-1 Inter Miami

Both of these teams are unbeaten in the Eastern Conference this year, and with top spot up for grabs, expect a close-fought contest.

That being said, the Crew have been strong at home while Inter have not won either of their last two on the road, so the hosts could come out marginal winners on Saturday.

> Major League Soccer preview: Columbus Crew vs Inter Miami

Charlotte FC vs. San Diego (Sunday, 12.30am)

Both aiming to continue impressive starts to the Major League Soccer 2025 season, Charlotte FC and San Diego will do battle at the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts sit second in the Eastern Conference after eight outings on the back of consecutive victories, while their visitors occupy third spot in the Western Conference in their maiden campaign.

We say: Charlotte FC 2-1 San Diego

In what promises to be a tight encounter between two sides enjoying strong runs to open their MLS campaigns, we give a slight edge to Charlotte FC, given the quality in their squad and their perfect home record thus far.

> Major League Soccer preview: Charlotte FC vs San Diego

Montreal vs. Orlando City (Sunday, 12.30am)

In a matchup of two winless teams this month, CF Montreal welcome Orlando City to Saputo Stadium Saturday, on matchday nine of the MLS season for both teams.

Le CFM are still winless for the year, suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Charlotte FC, while the Lions played to a 0-0 draw with the New York Red Bulls last week.

We say: CF Montreal 1-0 Orlando City

We saw several key players return to the field last week on the Montreal side and that should provide them with a much needed psychological boost against an Orlando team that have not been all that sharp in the attacking third recently.

> Major League Soccer preview: Montreal vs Orlando City

New England vs. NY City (Sunday, 12.30am)

Another instalment of the bitter New York-Boston rivalry will take place this weekend when the New England Revolution host New York City FC at Gillette Stadium in Major League Soccer action on Saturday.

The Revs are coming off a narrow 1-0 triumph over Atlanta United, moving them up to 12th in the Eastern Conference, four points below New York City, who defeated the Philadelphia Union by that same score.

We say: New England Revolution 1-1 New York City FC

Neither side have consistently produced convincing performances in 2025, which is why we expect a spirited affair but no one to have a decisive advantage.

> Major League Soccer preview: New England vs NY City

NY Red Bulls vs. DC United (Sunday, 12.30am)

New York Red Bulls play host to DC United on Saturday night looking to catapult themselves up the Eastern Conference table.

At a time when the home team sit in ninth position, DC United are down in 14th spot after a four-game losing streak.

We say: New York Red Bulls 2-1 DC United

Although the Red Bulls have been inconsistent during the opening two months of the campaign, we cannot ignore the dismal run of their opponents. With that in mind, we are backing the home side to come through in a competitive encounter, potentially helped by a fast start.

> Major League Soccer preview: NY Red Bulls vs DC United

Philadelphia vs. Atlanta (Sunday, 12.30am)

Philadelphia Union play host to Atlanta United on Saturday night looking to kick-start their promising opening to the MLS campaign.

At a time when the home side sit in fifth position in the Western Conference table, Atlanta are down in 11th spot, albeit just four points adrift of their next opponents.

We say: Philadelphia Union 1-1 Atlanta United

Despite the difference in league positions, Atlanta have enjoyed a marginally better run of form of late. With that in mind, we are backing the visitors to earn a share of the spoils to frustrate their hosts.

> Major League Soccer preview: Philadelphia vs Atlanta

Seattle vs. Nashville (Sunday, 12.30am)

Both aiming to make it back-to-back Major League Soccer victories, Seattle Sounders and Nashville SC will meet at Lumen Field on Saturday.

The visitors sit sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with a return to winning ways last weekend, while their hosts ended a five-match winless run away from home.

We say: Seattle Sounders 2-1 Nashville SC

Seattle Sounders are yet to truly show their quality this season, but with renewed confidence from a return to winning ways, we give them the slight edge in what should be a close encounter on Saturday.

> Major League Soccer preview: Seattle vs Nashville

Chicago Fire vs. Cincinnati (Sunday, 1.30am)

Chicago Fire will be looking to snap a three-game winless streak and get themselves back to winning ways when they play host to FC Cincinnati in round nine of the 2024-25 Major League Soccer season.

The away side, meanwhile, have recovered from a slow start to proceedings and will head to Soldier Field this weekend in search of a fourth straight league victory.

We say: Chicago Fire 1-1 FC Cincinnati

Chicago Fire have been the better of the two teams in attack, but Cincinnati have had the upper hand from a defensive perspective.

We are backing a share of the spoils with honours even at the end of the 90 minutes.

> Major League Soccer preview: Chicago Fire vs Cincinnati

Houston vs. Colorado (Sunday, 1.30am)

Houston Dynamo will be looking to secure back-to-back MLS home wins for the first time since October when they play host to Colorado Rapids at the Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday morning.

Having failed to win any of the last seven meetings between the two teams, the Rapids will head into the weekend looking to get one over the hosts and secure their third win in four games on the road since the start of March.

We say: Houston Dynamo 2-2 Colorado Rapids

Houston Dynamo have endured a stuttering start to the new league campaign and will head into the weekend in search of a spirit-lifting victory. However, Colorado Rapids have been tough to crack this season and we predict they will do just enough to force a share of the spoils.

> Major League Soccer preview: Houston vs Colorado

Minnesota Utd vs. Dallas (Sunday, 1.30am)

Minnesota United will be looking to move within one point of Vancouver Whitecaps at the top of the Western Conference table when they play host to Dallas on Sunday morning.

The Bulls journey to Allianz Field unbeaten in each of their four away matches this season, claiming two wins and two draws, and will look to extend this impressive run this weekend.

We say: Minnesota United 3-2 Dallas

Dallas came out on top in an eight-game thriller in their most recent clash against Minnesota United in June 2024 and we anticipate another action-packed contest with plenty of goalmouth action at the Allianz Field. However, home advantage gives the Loons an extra edge here and we are backing them to come out on top, albeit by a close margin.

> Major League Soccer preview: Minnesota Utd vs Dallas

St Louis City vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 1.30am)

On Saturday, the Vancouver Whitecaps will try to pad their lead atop the Western Conference table when they travel to Energizer Park to face St Louis City on matchday nine of the MLS campaign for both teams.

Last Sunday, St Louis dropped to 12th in the table, losing 2-1 to the Columbus Crew, while the Caps lead the Supporters' Shield standings following a convincing 5-1 win over Austin FC.

We say: St Louis City 0-1 Vancouver Whitecaps

The Caps seem to have learned how to be effective without Gauld, and with so many others playing to their potential at the moment, we believe they will have a comfortable outing against a St. Louis squad struggling to create much going forward.

> Major League Soccer preview: St Louis City vs Vancouver

Salt Lake vs. Toronto (Sunday, 2.30am)

Toronto continue to search for their first victory of the 2025 MLS campaign when they travel to America First Field for a date with Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

A late penalty goal conceded last weekend dropped Claret and Cobalt to 10th in the Western Conference with a 2-1 defeat at Nashville SC, while the Reds picked up a third successive draw, 0-0, at home to Minnesota United.

We say: Real Salt Lake 1-0 Toronto

Coming so close to winning can motivate you to fight harder, but it can also be demoralising, and we believe the Reds are experiencing the latter and will suffer because of that on Saturday.

> Major League Soccer preview: Salt Lake vs Toronto

Portland vs. Los Angeles (Sunday, 3.15am)

Seeking to extend their five-game unbeaten streak, Portland Timbers will welcome Los Angeles FC to Providence Park for their MLS fixture this weekend.

The hosts are looking for their first victory over the visitors in three league fixtures, while Los Angeles FC, who are seventh in the standings, are looking to earn a second straight win this weekend.

We say: Portland Timbers 2-1 Los Angeles FC

After an inconsistent start to the season, the Timbers have found their footing, going unbeaten in five matches, and given the indifferent form of the visitors, they are primed for a 2-1 victory.

> Major League Soccer preview: Portland vs Los Angeles

Earthquakes vs. Kansas (Sunday, 3.30am)

San Jose Earthquakes will be looking to respond to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Los Angeles FC when they take on struggling Sporting Kansas City at the PayPal Park in their gameweek nine MLS fixture this weekend.

Bruce Arena's men will be looking to avoid back-to-back losses, while the visitors will go out in search of their second victory of the season.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 Sporting Kansas City

San Jose have struggled at times in 2025, but they are expected to earn a routine win over the struggling visitors; therefore, we reckon the hosts will claim a narrow 2-1 win.
