Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

:Headline: Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid:
Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final with Real Madrid.
Sports Mole

Liverpool play host to Real Madrid on Wednesday evening needing to overturn a 3-1 deficit in order to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Despite Mohamed Salah giving his side hope with an away goal in the second half, the Premier League outfit were outclassed in Madrid.

However, Jurgen Klopp's team responded to that setback with a comeback win over Aston Villa on Saturday, giving the club a much-needed boost ahead of the reverse showdown with Los Blancos.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news before they welcome the Spanish giants to Anfield.

Jordan Henderson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

Henderson has been on the sidelines since the end of February due to a groin injury, and it is currently unclear when the England international will be available for selection once again.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Liverpool revealed at the start of February that Matip will be out for the remainder of the season due to a serious ankle problem.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gomez picked up a serious knee injury while away with England last November and has been on the sidelines since. The centre-back is making progress, but he is unlikely to play again this season.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Liverpool have been without Van Dijk since October due to a serious knee injury. The Netherlands international continues to make strides forward in his recovery, but it is unlikely that he will be able to figure for the first team before the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: April 14 (vs. Real Madrid)

Backup goalkeeper Kelleher has been absent from the substitutes' bench for recent matches because of an abdominal issue. Should the Irishman return on Wednesday night, he will only feature among the replacements.

Divock Origi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: April 14 (vs. Real Madrid)

Despite his return to the squad seemingly being imminent, Origi has not featured on the substitutes' bench for the last three games. At best, the Belgium international will be selected on the substitutes' bench.

Curtis Jones

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: April 14 (vs. Real Madrid)

Klopp revealed on Saturday that Jones had missed the Villa fixture as a precaution, citing a muscle issue as the reason for his absence. As things stands, the midfielder could come back into contention for a starting role on Wednesday.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this fixture.
