Patrick Dorgu is reportedly only on £40,000 a week at Manchester United, with the club's latest signing among the lowest earners at Old Trafford.

The Denmark international became the second signing of the Ruben Amorim era when he moved to Man United from Lecce in the latter stages of the January transfer window, following Ayden Heaven to the Red Devils.

Man United paid an initial €30m (£25m) plus a further €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons for the 20-year-old, and according to The Athletic, Dorgu's base salary at Old Trafford is £40,000 a week.

The Dane is therefore among the lowest earners at the club, with only Altay Bayindir (£35,000 a week), Kobbie Mainoo (£20,000 a week) and Toby Collyer (£5,000 a week) on less money than the new arrival.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Dorgu's salary will grow as he progresses, and it represents a change in structure under INEOS considering the salaries that were handed out before the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Dorgu 'only on £40,000 a week' at Man United

Casemiro picks up £350,000 a week, while Mason Mount is on £250,000 a week, with those two deals representing what Ratcliffe is now attempting to move the club away from under the new structure.

Despite his relatively low salary, Dorgu could be a starter for Man United, with the Dane potentially featuring as the left-sided wing-back in Amorim's 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford.

Dorgu has made 23 appearances this season, scoring three times and registering one assist in the process, with his final outing for Lecce coming against Inter Milan in Serie A at the end of January.

Tyrell Malacia has left Old Trafford, making the move to PSV Eindhoven on loan, while Luke Shaw has had another injury setback.

Noussair Mazraoui continues to look unconvincing down the left, so there is a strong chance that Dorgu will be a regular despite being relatively inexperienced during his professional career.

When will Dorgu make his debut for Man United?

Dorgu is set to be involved in Man United's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Leicester City on Friday night, with his debut for the 20-time English champions potentially coming against Ruud van Nistelrooy's side.

The defender's first Premier League outing could then come against Tottenham Hotspur on February 16. body check tags ::
