Real Madrid have been hit with the news that Eduardo Camavinga has suffered a complete tear of his left adductor tendon, with the midfielder now expected to miss the rest of the season and the Club World Cup.

Camavinga was not named in the starting XI against Getafe on Wednesday night, but he was introduced at the half-time break due to a muscular problem for David Alaba.

The France international suffered an injury in the latter stages of Real Madrid's 1-0 victory in La Liga, and after the match, head coach Carlo Ancelotti said that the former Rennes youngster would be out of Saturday's Copa del Rey final.

Camavinga was assessed by Real Madrid's medical staff on Thursday morning, and the severity of the issue has now been disclosed.

"Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a complete tear of the left adductor tendon. Pending evolution," read a statement from Real Madrid.

Camavinga 'set' for a lengthy spell on the sidelines

Real Madrid have not provided a timeframe in terms of a possible return for Camavinga, but according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign and also the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid have another six matches before the end of the campaign, facing Barcelona in Saturday's Copa del Rey final, before taking on Celta Vigo, Barcelona, Mallorca, Sevilla and Real Sociedad in their last five league games.

Due to the severity of the problem, it is viewed as almost impossible for Camavinga to recover in time to feature this season, with Real Madrid's last La Liga fixture currently scheduled for May 24.

Los Blancos will then take to the field for the Club World Cup in the middle of June, with the team's opener coming against Al Hilal on June 18, while they will also face Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg in Group H.

Camavinga is not expected to be seen in a Real Madrid shirt until the start of the 2025-26 campaign, with the capital giants suffering a major injury blow at such a crucial stage of the season.

Who else is currently injured for Real Madrid?

Kylian Mbappe is nursing an ankle problem which he suffered against Arsenal in the Champions League on April 16, but Ancelotti is hopeful that his leading goalscorer will be back for El Clasico on Saturday.

Ferland Mendy could also be back in the squad following a lengthy absence with a muscular issue, but Alaba is facing a spell on the sidelines with the muscular injury that he suffered against Getafe.

Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are also still out with long-term knee injuries, although it is believed to be possible that the pair could have some involvement in the Club World Cup. body check tags ::
