Real Madrid are reportedly considering making a move for Porto youngster Rodrigo Mora during this summer's transfer window.
The 18-year-old had an outstanding 2024-25 campaign in Portugal's top flight, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists in 23 appearances, and he is viewed as one of the brightest young talents in world football.
Mora, who came through the youth system at Porto, has shown his versatility this season by operating in a number of different positions, playing as a number 10, central midfielder, left-sided attacker, right-sided attacker and a second striker.
According to Fichajes, Mora's performances during the 2024-25 season captured the attention of a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, who are considering making a move this summer.
The report claims the release clause in Mora's Porto contract is €70m (£59m), and Real Madrid are willing to pay that fee to ensure that they do not miss out on his signature amid the growing competition.
Real Madrid 'eyeing summer move' for Mora
Xabi Alonso, who is set to arrive as Real Madrid head coach this summer, is said to be a huge admirer of Mora, who has been included in the Portugal squad for their UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with Germany.
Mora has featured twice for Portugal Under-21s, but he could now earn a senior cap at the start of June.
"He is a special player, I would like to talk about his path," Portugal boss told reporters earlier this week. "I've seen him play for the U17 team and he made a positive impact. For what he's done in the last six months he deserves a place in the national team.
"He is a different player. At 18, to play in Europe, to play in the domestic league and score 10 goals and set up four more. He is new and we have to help him. I have a smile when I talk about Rodrigo Mora because I think he will mark an era in Portuguese football."
Real Madrid are planning for a busy summer transfer window, with a deal for Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen already being confirmed, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to arrive on a free transfer from Liverpool.
What is Real Madrid's midfield situation?
Luka Modric is out of contract at the end of June, and the Croatia international is widely expected to leave on a free transfer.
Dani Ceballos has turned his Real Madrid career around in the second half of the campaign, but it remains to be seen whether he features in the plans of the club's new head coach, which is set to be Alonso.
The futures of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni have also been called into question, although it would be a surprise if either left Bernabeu during this summer's transfer window.
Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde are vital players for Los Blancos, meanwhile, so the team are well-stocked in the middle of midfield, especially if there is a switch to a 3-4-3 formation, which would take away a midfield role.
Mora is capable of operating in a central area, but he has mainly been used in a wide area this season, and he could be one of the stars of European football in the years to come. body check tags ::
