Micky van de Ven would like to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer if Real Madrid make an offer for his services, according to a report.

The 23-year-old has impressed across 45 appearances for Spurs in all competitions since joining from Wolfsburg in August 2023, but his time in North London has largely been hampered by injuries.

Van de Ven has been reduced to 16 outings in all tournaments so far this season, but that has not stopped the rumour mill linking the pacey Dutchman with a possible big-money move elsewhere.

Speculation over Van de Ven's future has intensified after the player's agent recently touted his services and hinted at a move away from Tottenham, earmarking Real Madrid as a potential future destination.

"Micky also has the level to one day play for a big club like Real Madrid. Besides, Madrid needs a player with his talents at the back," agent Jose Fortes told Spanish news outlet Marca.

Although Van de Ven is under contract in North London until the summer of June 2029, former Spurs scout Mick Brown claims that the defender will want to join Real Madrid if they come calling.

Van de Ven's agent 'pushing' for a move to Real Madrid

Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers and remains well-connected at his former clubs, has claimed that Van de Ven is one of several defensive options from the Premier League who is on Real Madrid's radar along with teammate Cristian Romero.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: "His agent is really pushing for a move to Real Madrid. That's the biggest problem in football at the moment, for me, because what does that agent know about football to be telling Real Madrid what they need?

"As it happens, I think Van de Ven would be a good fit for them, but that's not for his agent to decide.

"Real Madrid want a centre-back and they've been looking at options. A lot of those options are in the Premier League, and we spoke before about Romero.

"They've had scouts at Tottenham games having a look, so I don't doubt Van de Ven is on their radar.

"If they come calling, he will want to go, because it's always difficult for players to turn down a move to Real Madrid, especially after a difficult season like he's had.

"I'm not quite convinced he'll be their first choice given his injury issues, but it's a 'watch this space' situation at the moment."

What does the future hold for Van de Ven?

Speculation over a host of Tottenham players, and manager Ange Postecoglou, is set to grow in the coming months if the club fail to win the Europa League and subsequently miss out on Champions League qualification.

Spurs are preparing for a crucial quarter-final second-leg showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, and ahead of the contest, Van de Ven was asked about his lack of game time in recent weeks since recovering from injury.

"Why I don't play every week, that's not a question you shouldn't ask me, you have to ask the gaffer," Van de Ven told reporters. "But body-wise I'm feeling really well and really good - why I don't play every week you will have to ask the gaffer for this.

"But I'm feeling well. I've seen some people outside of the training ground, some specialists. They have been helping me with running and understanding my body a bit more and I've learned some things from them. I feel really good right now and ready to go."

Asked how important it is for him to be playing every game and playing in Europe each season, Van de Ven added: "Of course, I want to play every game. Football is what you love the most, every game you want to play.

"The Europa League is a really important competition for us this season, we have some Premier League games ahead of us but we want to win some silverware and qualify for a European tournament next season, then of course, the Europa League is a really important stage for us."

Van de Ven's alleged interest in joining Real Madrid comes at a time when Dejan Kulusevski is reportedly open to returning to Serie A amid interest from AC Milan and Napoli. body check tags ::
