Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Oxford United and Fleetwood Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Oxford United and Fleetwood Town will both be aiming to clinch consecutive victories when they go head-to-head at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday.

The hosts, who are sat in 18th place, are currently four points above the relegation zone, while Fleetwood occupy 15th position.

Match preview

Oxford ended a three-game winless run in all competitions on Saturday when they recorded a 3-1 away victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Djavan Anderson gave the U's a first-half lead before Ciaron Brown doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute, but the deficit was halved when Dion Charles found the net for Bolton.

However, a 79th-minute strike from Steve Seddon wrapped up a 3-1 victory, and extended Oxford's unbeaten away run to four league matches.

While they have performed well on their travels, Oxford know that they need to improve upon their poor home form if they are to move away from the relegation zone.

They have lost their last four home games in all competitions, while only two of their seven home league matches have resulted in victory.

Like their hosts, Fleetwood are also looking to record consecutive victories after thrashing Accrington Stanley 3-0 at the weekend.

After playing out a goalless first half, Carlos Mendes Gomes, Shaun Rooney and Josh Earl all found the net in the second period to secure all three points.

The result leaves Fleetwood six points clear of the relegation zone in 15th position, although they are only two points better off than Oxford.

After ending a four-game winless league run, Scott Brown's side will attempt to claim their third away victory of the season on Tuesday.

Although Fleetwood have only won two away league matches this season, they have proven to be tough team to beat, losing only one of their previous six away games in League One.

Team News

After beating Bolton 3-1 at the weekend, Oxford boss Karl Robinson is expected to keep changes to a minimum on Tuesday.

Anderson scored his first Oxford goal on Saturday, and the 27-year-old will look to add to his tally when he features in the front three.

Marcus Browne could be brought into the side after appearing as a second-half substitute against Bolton, which could result in Gatlin O'Donkor dropping down to the bench.

As for the visitors, they are expected to be without the services of defenders Michael Devlin and Darnell Johnson due to injury issues.

Joe Garner is also a doubt for Tuesday's contest after he was forced off in the first half against Accrington on Saturday.

After scoring five goals in all competitions this season, Gomes will retain his place in the forward line, and he could be joined in the front three by Cian Hayes and Callum Morton.

Oxford United possible starting lineup:
Eastwood; Long, Moore, Findlay, Brown; Bate, Brannagan, McGuane; Anderson, Browne, Joseph

Fleetwood Town possible starting lineup:
Lynch; Earl, Baker, Holgate; Rooney, Vela, Wiredu, Andrew; Mendes, Hayes, Garner

We say: Oxford United 1-1 Fleetwood Town

Both teams recorded victories at the weekend, but with the teams separated by two points, we think that a closely-fought contest will finish all square.
